The painting (below) shows a strong sign of the supernatural and unreal. Not just by the horse with no head with creepy bendy blocks coming out of it, but by the entire atmosphere around the horse. It almost looks like the horse is on a planet of his own where the ground is so smooth and empty. Also, the sky is black as night, but the horse and the ground light up as the puffy white clouds float low on the horizon. This picture is an excellent example of supernatural in 19th century romanticism.

The picture below represents nationalism in 19th century romanticism. Where the French people are holding their flag high as they stand on a pile of dead bodies as if they had endured a great battle in which they prevailed. You can see how the lighted cloud of dust illuminates the women holding her flag high and the crowd of men swarm her with their guns held high. You can see that everything around the women is darkened while she walks on the hill of dead.
