Recent Projects
Barnard Brown Elementary: On Mondays we will all be going to North Hartford to tutor second graders in reading, and assist with their overall schoolwork. This is a wonderful opportunity for Suffield to not only develop bonds with Hartford, but also for you to see the difference you can make in a child, because you will see improvement in your child’s performance.
Alcorn/Barnard Elementary School- These elementary schools in Enfield run an after school program for children grades K-6. You go and assist the people running the program. This means you will help with homework, assist running activities and just play with the kids. This will be on Thursdays.
Equistrides- Equistrides is a therapeutic riding center in North Granby. Students go every Tuesday afternoon. The following is from their website and it describes the volunteer positions available:
What it takes to become a volunteer.
Volunteers provide an invaluable service to Equistrides Therapeutic Riding Center. Experience with horses is not necessary, as assistance is needed for all positions within the program. Our volunteers are provided with orientation and hands-on training prior to working in the riding program.
Riding Program Volunteers to assist in preparing horses for sessions (groom & tack), leading horses or side walking riders during sessions. Sidewalking does not require any experience with horses.
